MYP

Students in years 7-11 at Emirates International School Meadows (EISM) High School follow the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme(MYP)

Students undertake eAssessments and complete ePortfolios to gain an IB certified MYP certificate.

The academic programme at EISM follows the IB MYP philosophy and is designed to address the unique needs of our students.  The school offers a challenging and diverse curricular programme, allowing students to develop and progress, through processes of inquiry, exploration, discovery and thoughtful reflection under the guidance of skilful teachers.

The MYP Programme compromises 8 subject groups

  1. Language acquisition.
  2. Language and literature.
  3. Individuals and societies.
  4. Sciences.
  5. Mathematics.
  6. Arts.
  7. Physical and health education.
  8. Design.

At the core of the MYP and all IB Programmes is the learner profile, 10 attributes fostered in students that promote their development as responsible members of their local, national and global communities. IB learners strive to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective

Students learn best when their learning experiences have context and are connected to their lives and their experience of the world that they have experienced.

Using global contexts, MYP students develop an understanding of their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet through developmentally appropriate explorations of:

  1. identities and relationships
  2. personal and cultural expression
  3. orientations in space and time
  4. scientific and technical innovation
  5. fairness and development
  6. globalization and sustainability.

We are confident that your child will make good progress at EISM in a supportive and challenging environment. If you require further details about our curriculum in years 7-11 please contact Ms. Sarah Robson MYP Coordinator, robsons@eischools.ae
