Primary School

The Primary Years Programme identifies a body of significant knowledge for all students in all cultures, in six principal subject areas: language; social studies; mathematics; science; arts; personal social and physical education.

The essential elements of the written curriculum are:

Knowledge: significant, relevant content for students to explore and know about, taking into consideration their prior experience and understanding.

Concepts: form, function, causation, change, connection, perspective, responsibility and reflection.

Skills: thinking skills, social skills, communication skills, self-management skills, and research skills.

Attitudes: tolerance, respect, integrity, independence, enthusiasm, empathy, curiosity, creativity, cooperation, confidence, commitment and appreciation.

Action: a response that is initiated by the students as a result of the learning process.

The Primary Years Programme is inquiry based and is formed from a structure of six Transdisciplinary Themes.

You can find our current Programme of Inquiry below as well as previous inquiries that year groups have conducted.
