School Advisory Council

The School Advisory Council


The EIS-J School Advisory Council (SAC), is a team of stakeholders including: parents, administrators, alumni, educators, business/industry personne. The role of the SAC is to support the school leadership to increase student success by ensuring that the school provides the best possible education for every student at the school. The SAC works as a team, involving other members of the school community as required, in the school improvement process. The SAC works alongside the school’s senior leadership team through the establishing of effective and regular communication. It is their role to provide constructive feedback to the school.


Christopher McDermott

Christopher McDermott is an internationally regarded educator and a former National Leader for Education for England and Wales.  He has extensive international experience as a Principal, in the UK and in Dubai. He is a qualified school inspector as well as a renowned Educational consultant in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.  We are privileged to have Chris as the Inclusion Governor for EIS, his role being to encourage and ensure that all students can thrive and succeed in our Inclusive school.


Dr Lejla (Leila) Vrazalic

Lejla joined EISJ in 1992 and was in the first cohort of IB graduates in the UAE in 1994. She received the very first International Student Award from the Council of International Schools in the UAE and was the President of the Student Council.

Lejla went to the University of Wollongong in Australia where she spent 10 years and completed her PhD, working as a lecturer at the University. During this time, she also taught in Malaysia and Hong Kong as part of the University’s collaborative partnership arrangements. Whilst in this role, she was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning and the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Business Community Partnerships. In 2004, she joined the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), first as a lecturer and later as the Chair of the College of Undergraduate Studies. She also helped set up the campus’ first learning support unit. In 2014, she set up an educational consultancy and now works for the Ministry of Education in the UAE and the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority.


Fahim Al Qasimi

Fahim was a student at EISJ along with his three brothers and graduated with an IB Diploma in 2004. He completed his Bachelor's degree from Lancaster University in the UK followed by Master's in International Relations from the University of Cambridge. Fahim spent part of his childhood in Germany and speaks Arabic, English, French and German.

Fahim holds a variety of portfolios: Executive Chairman of the Department of Government Relations, Sharjah; Member of the Executive Council of the Government of Sharjah; Executive Chairman, Department of Government Relations.

He is also a partner at AQ&P which is an independent advisory firm focused on Corporate Governance as well as the Non-Executive Director - Taqarabu Hybrid Communications which is built with global organisations and initiatives in mind. Fahim is married to Anna Roberts, a former EISJ student, and the father of twin boys.


Joanna Dodo

Joanna has been an EISJ parent for 8 years. A British expat she graduated from Birmingham University as a pediatric nurse, working on a neonatal surgical ward.

She has 3 children between primary and high school. Her eldest child started at EIS in KG 2 and is now attending high school.

She has experience with children of determination and has been involved in the inclusion framework meetings at school.


Sanjay Jain

Sanjay Jain is a partner with a leading Management Consulting firm EY (formerly Ernst & Young). Sanjay has been in the Middle East since 1998. He has 20+ years of experience, having been with both, global and regional companies. In his current role, Sanjay leads EY’s MENA insurance practice, servicing the Middle East and North Africa insurance sector across 15 countries. Sanjay has extensive experience across the value chain of insurance business, both from an industry and the consulting perspective. He has proven experience of working with Boards/CEOs on their growth and profitability agenda. Some of the recent projects Sanjay has been leading entailed, market entry; strategic transformation; operational effectiveness; M&A; regulatory compliance; risk management; and governance. 

He has been an EISJ parent since the past five years; his son will graduate in 2019 having completed the MYP and DP at EISJ.


Mohammad Pedram

Born and raised in Dubai, Mohammad first visited EIS – J as a student playing football for his school team. He was so impressed that when it came to his own children’s education it was an easy choice to enrol his twins at EISJ!

He gained his Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in Engineering. He now runs the family business that deals with construction material and consultation. Mohammad is most passionate about innovation that will benefit society. He is currently developing a sports app to help students to be recognised for their sporting achievements to open the door to sports scholarships.


Laila Qadan

Laila Qadan is the mother of 4 proud EIS students spanning 4 different year groups: EY, PYP, MYP and IB.

She holds a double Masters in Linguistics (France) and Second Language Acquisition (Maryland, USA). She also has teaching experience in the US university system. Formerly she has been a UNESCO consultant for the development of the 5- year plan in the Palestinian Authority. Laila is fluent in English, Arabic and French.
