Primary School Curriculum: Academic Departments
Arts
EIS-Jumeirah runs an extensive Arts Programme.
Students in the Primary School have the opportunity to participate in
creative and dramatic arts as part of the curriculum and our after school activities
programme.
Student skills are developed through assemblies, presentations and special productions
throughout the year. Our after-school Music Centre offers private
tuition for all students in a variety of instruments.
In addition there are several school productions each year involving Art, Drama,
Music and Food Science students and teachers.
Sports
There is a thriving sports programme at EIS-Jumeirah.
All Primary School students participate in physical education classes
twice weekly. Classes promote enjoyment, sportsmanship and skill development. Students
also participate in annual sports days and athletic and swim events in the Junior
School.
Languages
English is the language of instruction throughout EIS-Jumeirah. Arabic language
is compulsory for all students up to Grade 9 and is compulsory for all Arab students
thereafter, in accordance with Ministry of Education regulations.
Students in the Primary school have a daily Arabic lesson with two additional
weekly lessons for native Arabic Speakers. Optional French is introduced in Grade
5 and 6. Students who join our school with little or no English are given daily
English support lessons by specialist staff.
